Dr. Mamdouh Albaqumi is the founder and CEO of Anfas Medical Care, scholar and published author of 15 peer reviewed articles in highly recognized journals. Dr. Mamdouh believes that we all deserve a life of wellness. That’s why he is dedicated to tackling chronic illness in a holistic manner and reinventing the way healthcare is delivered in the region.
Dr. Mamdouh holds a B.Sc. in Pre-Medicine and a doctorate of Medicine with Honors from George Washington University, District of Colombia, USA, where he received the Outstanding International Student Award at the President’s Millennium Seminar. Dr. Mamdouh completed his residency in Internal Medicine at New York University Medical Center, NY, USA. He also completed his fellowship in Nephrology and Transplantation in New York University Medical Center, NY, USA, where he received the Fellow of the Year Award in the New York Area and a nomination of teacher of the year. Dr. Mamdouh is American board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Nephrology.
Dr. Mamdouh joined the Nephrology Division of the NYU Medical Centre as an Assistant Research Scientist and a Clinical Instructor, where he discovered a new pathway for polycystic kidney disease therapy. His work at NYU was published on the cover of Kidney International Journal, for which he was awarded the young investigator forum award by the American National Kidney Foundation. After obtaining such widespread recognition, Dr. Mamdouh was recruited by King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSH & RC) as a Consultant Nephrologist and Researcher. In this role, he started the first and only Polycystic Kidney Disease Program in the Middle East, treating the most commonly inherited kidney disease in the world.
During his tenure at KFSH&RC, he published 15 different Peer-Reviewed articles in highly recognized journals, including the American National Academy of Science. These works have been cited more than 450 times in multiple scholarly journals. He was also involved in many executive committees and worked closely with the Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Executive Officer, where he was appointed Deputy Executive Director of the Research Centre. As Deputy Executive Director, he managed 500 employees, oversaw a budget of over 250 million SAR per year and doubled the number of research projects as well as the volume of external revenues. Also, Dr. Mamdouh held a leadership role in the National Saudi Human Genome Project.
