Dr. Peter Catalano graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Columbia University School of Engineering, followed by obtaining his medical degree from The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. Dr. Catalano completed his Otolaryngology Residency at Mount Sinai Hospital and subsequently joined the full-time faculty there, serving from 1990 to 1999 and attaining the rank of Associate Professor of Otolaryngology, Neurosurgery, and Maxillofacial Surgery
From 2000 to 2009, Dr. Catalano served as the Chair of Otolaryngology at the Lahey Clinic. He then took on the role of Chair of Surgery and Vice President of Surgical Services at Caritas/Steward Health Care from 2009 to 2012. Currently, he holds multiple prestigious positions: Chief of Otolaryngology at Steward Health Care, Professor of Otolaryngology at Tufts University, Director of the Rhinology Fellowship at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, and Medical Director of Research for Steward Health Care
With a prolific academic presence, Dr. Catalano has delivered over 300 invited lectures, authored 25 book chapters, and published more than 95 peer-reviewed articles. He is also an active member of the editorial board for seven medical journals
In addition to his clinical and academic roles, Dr. Catalano is the President and Founder of the Foundation for Innovation, Education, and Research in Otolaryngology (FIERO), an organization he has led since 2011. He also organizes two major annual medical conferences, Open Forum US and the ENT Summit in Southeast Asia
Over the past 35 years, Dr. Catalano has collaborated with numerous medical device companies to develop and commercialize minimally invasive surgical tools and techniques, enhancing the field of otolaryngology through his innovative contributions
